Willow and plum

Recently I was sent some beautiful products from a small business based in Fife where all the products are handmade, vegan, cruelty free and kind to sensitive skin. I’ve followed the company for a while and enjoyed watching it grow and understandably was super excited when given the opportunity to test and review the wonderful hand made soaps. I was only expecting small tester samples that would do one or two uses, so you can imagine I was amazed to open the beautiful package to find three full sized soaps.

I must say this is the most amazing smelling package I have ever opened. Nothing was overwhelming but man was it a beautiful smack in the face of delicious. Even Scott, who hates all things smelly was pleasantly surprised with the box of goodness.

Now I’m going to be honest. When I first came across Willow & Plum I didn’t realise it was soaps I thought it was beautifully large pieces of fudge. Turns out as delectable as it looks and smell’s, this is still infact soap and tastes as such. But please appreciate how beautiful this is.

Wanting to review these products correctly I decided to embark on a personal two week challenge of using only Willow & Plum products. This I thought was enough time to fully test the produce out, though I wasn’t entirely sure it would last the full two weeks. Yet I went ahead and did just that.

These soaps are kind on skin, good for babies, great for shaving, hair washing and mild enough for every day use. They contain no palm oil so are vegan and cruelty free, which is always a plus and exactly the kind of product we love. (Check the impact palm oil has here) All packaging is recyclable and eco friendly and above all, is beautiful.

First is the bar Scott pretty much claimed. Sandalwood and patchouli oil. This has an amazing deep and earthy smell, wonderfully clean smelling and masculine, though I have often used this myself. We took the advice of Lesley with this one and cut it into smaller blocks, this has given us an even greater amount of time out of this soap. The lather of this one is creamier and smoother than the others so perfect for all of us needing a shave (yes women shave too) Scott loves his one since it moisturised as used, he really cant be bothered moisturising. I found this a great extra on those rushed days that you jump from the shower to your clothes before leaving the house in a rush. The scent lasts for ever! I mean my bathroom smells like heaven even from the little slice in the shower. If Lesley was ever to reach out in to sprays, this would be the one to start on.

Next up was probably my favourite. From the second I smelled it I was in love. The Basil and lime soap bar is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever used. It has a fresh and invigorating scent that awakens and soothe you as you use it. Now I jumped in and used this soap without cutting any bits off and to this day it is still going strong, that’s after almost THREE MONTHS! Keep it dry and on a well drained soap dish and this beauty will last ages. Again this is a scent that means you don’t need any bathroom smellie as this fills the bathroom with all its zesty, citrus earthy goodness. Another favourite about his soap is, when you are out and about you continuously catch the lingering aroma coming from your hair and skin as you move.

Last but not least is the Soothing nettle soap bar. We used this one on baby alot. She had had a rough breakout with a well known brand and this helped sooth the redness and cracking that had been caused. There is no real scent to this soap and it was a great one to turn to when my face broke out thanks to those pesky hormones. It’s an amazing rescue soap for when your skin is out of hand or if you have skin problems. A moisturizer or soothing balm to team up with this would have you set for life.

I used all soaps in my hair and found they gave a squeaky clean finish, don’t rub too much in though as it will take awhile to get those suds out. My favourite was the basil and lime for my hair as it’s just so fresh.

I’m excited to see how this company progresses and I am proud to be part of the willow and plum family. Go stock up on some beautiful hand made products all the family can use and will love for Christmas. Remember, every time you buy from a small business a real person does a happy dance! Shop small ladies and gentlemen!

Love and hugs,

Hayleigh xo

  1. These look so beautiful! I feel like they’d make amazing christmas presents, and I might need to treat myself to one too!

  2. These look BEAUTIFUL! Right up my street. I love anything with Sandalwood in, so that would be a winner with me. I really like how they package them too. Im slowly changing all my products to cruelty free, any new products I buy I am mindful of, so this is a company I will check out. Thank you for sharing your beautiful items xx

    1. Thank you for reading! I’ve recently been trying to do the same, not just for he kindness it brings to the world with cruelty free and eco friendly products but because it’s so much better for the skin. Hoping by doing so I can hold on to a youthful skin for a good few years longer xo
